STARTING POINT

Informative, but not actionable

Users could see their financial activity across the app, but without intelligent insights, it was hard to know what mattered or what to do next.

THE DECISIONS

Figuring out how AI shows up

Where does it live? Search and chat do different things; search is for when you know what you want, chat is for when you don't. We kept both.

How do you introduce it? We use "AI" only as a CTA, a doorway into chat. The insights speak for themselves.

Sheet or full experience? We went with a sheet modal to start stay in context and learn before going bigger.

SOLUTION

From data to guidance

Insights shift from static data to clear, actionable guidance — helping users understand what's happening and what to do next. AI is embedded directly into the experience, surfacing help in context and laying the foundation for a more conversational model.

WHAT IS NEXT

Moving toward a more conversational experience

Parts of this vision are already live, with AI insights embedded across the product to surface guidance in context. The next step is to evolve this into a conversational system, making AI a primary entry point in the main navigation and expanding it across key surfaces so that guidance shows up naturally, when you need it.

I evolved the visual language to support this shift, tie it more closely to the MoneyLion logo, and add subtle moments of delight to create a more conversational experience.

THE SHIFT

From searching to asking

We saw in the data that people weren’t really using search—and when they did, it didn’t work well. Instead of trying to improve it, I pushed for a different approach—shifting toward a conversational experience where users could just ask and get a clear answer with next steps.

Impact

A meaningful behavior shift

Users moved from passively checking data to actively asking questions and exploring what to do next.

A new interaction model for the platform

Moving AI into navigation reframed the product — from a dashboard you consult to a system that guides you.

A scalable foundation

The language and patterns built here are shaping MoneyLion's broader AI direction across the product.
